Lesson Information

Lesson Policy

  • Students may schedule lesson times in 30, 45, or 60 minute times in an in-person or online virtual setting. Some students may show more advanced progress and can benefit from longer lesson times to explore advanced concepts in detail. Beginning students should plan to continue studying for 30 minutes/lesson. If you aren't sure whether longer lesson times would be beneficial, please contact the MrW to schedule a time to discuss your child's progress. Lesson prices are included below. Families with 2 or more children taking lessons will receive a discounted price.
    • 30 minute lesson ($25.00)
    • 45 minute lesson ($38.00)
    • 60 minute lesson ($50.00)
  • Individual lessons include voice or piano lessons with one student. Our main focus is technique and musicianship to develop a student's personal giftedness in a focused and goal-oriented manner. Students may schedule lesson times in 30, 45, or 60 minute times.
Practice
  • Regular practice is important in any new skill.  Depending on your goals for taking lessons, we can help develop a schedule that works best for you.
  • All students will be required to log a minimum of 20 minutes of practice 3 days per week.
    • Students that don't meet this minimum will be put on probation for 4 weeks.
    • If the minimum isn't met 2x within the course of a month, students may be asked to take time off until their schedule allows for more time to study.
Practicing is an age-old struggle that every student goes through. I remember it well with my parents for years! In short, without adequate weekly practice, your investment isn't being used effectively. This new requirement is something I've thought through very carefully and want to be sure lessons are a worthwhile experience for everyone. Please let me know if you have concerns or questions.

 Attendance
Your lessons are important to you and they're important to MrW! I promise to give you the best instruction that helps motivate and inspire you to enjoy music through singing and/or playing an instrument. For your part, regular attendance helps you get better and keeps you from losing interest or giving you the impression that you're not making progress.

Lessons missed for illness or unexpected emergency will be given a lesson credit. This can be done once every 12 weeks. Lessons that are missed more than once per 12 weeks, or are canceled less than 12 hours before a lesson, will be charged full price. For your convenience, you are welcome to reschedule your lesson with another available time using the online scheduler 12 hours or more before your lesson.

If I need to miss a lesson, I will either try to reschedule or refund that lesson's amount.

Please be prompt – lesson times cannot be extended for students who arrive late.

 Lesson Payments
Lesson payments are made to "Zeeland Studio for Music". Once a month, MrW will email an invoice for lessons taken that month. You can pay online through PayPal (including credit and debit payment). Payments made online will be charged a 2.9% fee to cover the cost of processing.

Students will need to purchase method books and music on occasion throughout the year.  If students wish to participate in festivals, competitions, or other events, additional event fees may be required.
